Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: June 15, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs how Chateaux may be used. It is part of the Terms of Service. Breach of this AUP may result in suspension or termination.
1. Real-estate compliance
1.1 Fair Housing Act (US) and equivalents
You may NOT use Chateaux to:
- Discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin (US Fair Housing Act).
- Use "steering" language in ad copy or listing descriptions (e.g., "walking distance to good schools" implying racial preference, per HUD guidance).
- Generate ad targeting that excludes protected classes on Meta or Google. Meta’s special housing category applies to every housing ad — the AI Ad Engine automatically declares this, but you remain responsible.
- Refuse to represent buyers or sellers based on protected characteristics.
- Post prompt-manipulated AI outputs that would violate advertising or licensing rules if human-authored.
Equivalent local rules apply outside the US (e.g., Canada: Canadian Human Rights Act & provincial codes; UK: Equality Act 2010; EU: Race Equality Directive).
1.2 Truth-in-advertising
- Every listing and every AI-staged photo you publish must be truthful. Staged photos must be clearly labeled as virtual staging when the buyer might reasonably confuse them for the actual state of the property.
- Comparative or superlative claims must be substantiated.
- Prices must be current.
1.3 Licensing
You represent that you hold any real-estate license, registration, or authorization required in your jurisdiction to market and sell real estate.
2. Content restrictions
You may not upload, generate, publish, or transmit content that:
- Is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or invasive of privacy.
- Depicts nudity, sexual content, extreme violence, or graphic imagery.
- Infringes any intellectual-property right (photos you don’t own, competitor logos, MLS-restricted content without a license).
- Contains malware, phishing links, or exploits.
- Reveals confidential information about a minor without parental consent.
- Uses another agent’s identity, brand, or photos without permission.
- Discloses PII about other people (buyers, sellers, tenants) beyond what is required for the transaction and permitted by your jurisdiction.
3. Platform integrity
You may not:
- Access the Service through any interface other than those we provide.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or bypass technical protections.
- Scrape data from public listing pages, virtual tours, or business cards belonging to other Chateaux users.
- Use the Service to build a competing product.
- Load-test, denial-of-service, or otherwise attempt to disrupt Service availability.
- Exceed the rate limits published in our API documentation.
4. AI feature use
You may not use the AI features to:
- Generate content that violates § 1 or § 2.
- Produce false valuations, comps, or AVMs to deceive a client or third party.
- Impersonate a licensed appraiser, attorney, mortgage broker, or other regulated professional.
- Circumvent, jailbreak, or misuse the underlying AI providers (Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Emergent).
- Automate mass-outreach that would violate CAN-SPAM, CASL, or GDPR consent requirements.
Every AI output is a draft. You are the human-in-the-loop. Review before publishing.
5. Third-party ad platform compliance
When using the AI Ad Engine to publish Meta or Google Ads:
- You must comply with each platform’s ad policies, including their Special Ad Category for Housing (Meta) or Housing, Employment, Credit category (Google Ads).
- Do not use restricted targeting attributes (age, gender, ZIP-code radius) for housing ads.
- Do not use images of individuals you do not have permission to depict.
- All ad landing pages must have working navigation, valid contact info, and honest claims.
Violations reported to us by the ad platform may result in immediate suspension.
6. Buyer / lead privacy
Leads captured through Chateaux (via QR scans, landing-page forms, tours) are personal data of the buyer. You must:
- Only use their information to respond to their inquiry.
- Not sell, share, or transfer their information to unrelated third parties.
- Comply with anti-spam laws (CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, TCPA) in your outreach.
- Provide an unsubscribe option in every marketing email you send them.
- Delete their information promptly when they ask.
7. Team / brokerage rules
If you are a brokerage administrator:
- You must have written authorization from each agent you invite before uploading their contact info or images.
- You may not use team-level dashboards to make employment decisions in violation of local labor law.
- You must inform agents that Chateaux is used for team-level analytics of their work.
8. Reporting abuse
Saw something on a Chateaux public page or communication that violates this AUP? Email abuse@chateaux.ai with:
- The URL or content in question
- A short description of the concern
- Your contact info (optional)
We investigate within 72 hours and take action where warranted.
9. Consequences of violation
Depending on severity, violations may result in:
- A warning.
- Removal of the offending content.
- Temporary suspension.
- Permanent termination.
- Referral to law enforcement or regulators (housing agencies, DPAs, ad platforms).
We reserve the right to act without prior notice when necessary to protect users or comply with the law.
10. Updates
We update this AUP as new abuse patterns emerge. Material changes take effect 14 days after email + in-app notification.
